Winter rest

Hello geeks, I need advice please. Do zygos and ocidiums need a winter rest? If so could someone please advise me how ,when to do this? Itís getting cold for an orchid here in Oregon. I do grow indoors however my exotics are close to a big window. I have never put my phals on winter rest should they be too? I would appreciate any advice you can send my way. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Oncidiums and your phals don't need a winter rest. There are certain dens that need the dry winter rest to bloom. I have a Den.parishii that I got as a gift from Tom Miranda. It was in bloom when I got it. It requires a dry winter rest in order to bloom. I thought easy peasy. Wrong. I cannot get it to bloom no matter what I do. Can get new growths but no flowers. Hope this helps.

No not a complete winter rest for those but you do reduce watering. Only give them water when dry and maybe not as much as you would during warmer months. I just reduce the frequency with which I water for Zygo's and Oncid's but never completely stop.

They will still flower no problems. Make sure they et lots of air movement.

They look healthy, maybe the one of the left could use a bit more light to flower? Both genera love good light.
