My first orchid, troubleshooting yellow canes

Hi all, I decided to buy my first orchid this year at a local flower festival. When I brought the orchid it had a lot of pink flowers in bloom and was very pretty.

After a while the flowers all dropped which I thought was normal after researching online, but I also noticed most of the stems have gone yellow and soft one by one over the course of the next half yr and all the leaves slowly fell off.

I looked online and realised the yellow stems were actually dead canes so I started trimming the dead canes, but it appears more and more remaining stems are going yellow one by one... Not sure what's going wrong, now I only have a few stems left that don't look yellow and only one stem has leaves left on it

Not sure if my orchid is already on it's way to dying and is there any way to save my orchid? T_T

I kept my orchid as it is from the store, and I have been watering it a few times a week. I also brought some white fertilizer pellets and lay them all over the roots as I thought the stems might be dying due to low nutrients. I am not sure what orchid this is, as the stall I brought it from only mentioned it was an orchid.
