Help needed! Unable to post photos

Hello,
I was trying to post a photo and ask about that interesting bump on the base of my Phal that I'm trying to save - is it a new root? a keiki?.... But when I attempted to download the picture, I keep getting an error message.

Any advice from the tech department? I believe I've posted a number of posts by now that 'qualify' me to attach photos.....

Your assistance is so much appreciated!

Lilia

There seem to be many "work-arounds" for getting pictures up. It all depends on your computer and the size of your images. I've had the best luck by uploading to the photo gallery and then copying the "BBimage code" to put the pic in my message. Have you tried that method?

For a while I could only upload 1 pic at a time, but lately I can do 2 or 3--maybe more. The new computer seems to have helped.

Hmmm.. Interesting.
Thanks for the advice! No, I had no idea that posting pictures would take that many steps and I have the most up-to-date computer equipment and love computers... But I'll give it a shot. Thanks so much!

Hello! Me again!
Nope, that didn't help. This is what I get when the download is complete.
Can I contact someone who oversees the website and its maintenance?

I really love this forum and really would love to participate!

Hmm, Fred should be around here somewhere.

In the meantime, here's how I post photos. Maybe it will work for you.

I upload all of the photos I want to share onto Flickr.
Go to your photostream and click on the specific photo you want to share.
Click on the magnifying glass with the + in it in the upper right corner.
Once the page loads, click on the "View all sizes" in the upper right corner.
Select the size you want, then right click on the image. Select "copy image location".
Then, come here to OrchidGeeks and create the post you want to post. Click on the icon of the mountain with the sun over it and paste the URL into the space.
And that should work.

I've been gone for awhile but, when I had a camera, I posted pics right from the camera. This depends upon the camera and it's software and I have to learn this all over again as well I think Anton is really good with this stuff and Shannara Oh and Bernie P knows of an older website or program that worked well so maybe one of them will chime in soon as Brooke said, size of the pic is a factor, maybe put it in your geek photo album and let viewers go there Good luck Can't wait to see those pics

Part of the trouble with uploading to orchidgeeks is that the image has to fall into the picture parameters, like a .jpg can't be more than 600x650px or larger than 127KB (the parameters are listed on the attachments page). I've had to resize anything I want to upload here. I'm on a Mac so I just use Preview.

I can't help anything with the error message. I'm sure a mod will be along shortly to help.

You can also upload to a remote site like Flickr, Picasa, Photobucket, tinypic and then copy and paste the image's URL here. To make the image show itself, you'll need to tag it like this:

I hope this was helpful to you!

I got the same message but finally figured it out. I think it means that the picture is too big (size wise or memory wise) I'll try to be as specific as possible so bear with me (not good at explaining things)

Before I do anything, I first upload all the pictures on my desktop so I can get to it easily.
1. open picture
2. right click
3. edit
4. I think the first time you do this, they ask ou what kind of programs you want to use to edit. I chose "Paint"
5. your picture should have been uploaded using the program "paint."
6. in the top almost to the left corner you'll see a tab that says "resize"
7. click on pixels
8. vertical: 650
9. save it somewhere in your computer
10. to post in this forum click on the arrow next to attachment
11. find the picture you just saved and upload
12. This should work!!! I did it!!!

You're VERY GOOD at the explaining! Thanks! Yes, the size of the photo was the problem!
Thanks so much, Everyone, for your taking time and helping out! You're amazing!

Yes, it worked although I used an outside website to shrink the size. And posted my first picture of a bump in question.

Cheers!
Lilia
