help my oncidium

Hi, my oncidium is sick lately, it seems not growing at all once moved to my house. The leaves are yellowish and the pseudobulb is drying. I watered the plant every morning with spray water, fertilize it twice a month, the roots are not rotting, what is the potential causes? Any help is much appreciated.

from the looks of this it may be a fungus...possibly black spot or bacterial brown spot. I am a beginner in the orchid world so hopefully some experts will be able to advise better than me,,, good luck !!

I would repot that into a finer media. I have all of mine in a bark mixture and most of them in a fine bark mixture with sphagnum moss, charcoal and pearlite mixed in. My goal with oncs is to keep the bulbs plump, so far they bloom pretty regularly for me.

I have one type that has a few browning bulbs like yours, I removed them and it seems to be doing fine now, but it also didn't seem to be spreading.

I agree with digriz. Me too would repot in a finer media. I have mine in a medium bark-charcoal-coconut fibre-perlite mix and they're doing fine.

Using a finer medium was my first thought as well. It will retain more moisture so you won't have to water as much, and retaining some moisture will ensure that the plant gets a bit more itself. Mounted orchids or orchids with really large medium being used to pot in need to be watered probably more than once a day. My first thought was that your Oncidium wasn't getting enough water and the roots may be drying out too much.

It is over potted and dehydrated. I would take it out of that pot and trim off the old soft, mushy back pbulbs and roots. Repot leaving enough for a couple years growth. Usually 2 finger width between plant and pot.IMO would not use a net pot. I would use plastic or clay pot. Use a mixture of bark, perlite and some coco chip bark to help retain some moisture. Then give it good culture. I have mine in bright indirect light.
