April I did not see the post. Dens mouont well but are slow growing on a mount unless you can give it a lot of water.

I put some in baskets this month and like the look.

The ones here have very extensive root systems. I am beginning to believe the new rooting hormone is responsible. I placed a Cattleya cutting on a mount and it 5 weeks it had roots 5 inches long on the wood and 4 four buds. And this was a plant cut into three pieces. A second mount has 5 inch roots and a sheat.

    Myorchid,
You really can not go wrong with either choice in my opinion. My diderii is currently in bloom. The scottianum that I have is in spike right now. The scottianum has terete leaves and as it ages the plant becomes pendent. The bloom on the scottianum is twisted with the lip held on the upper side of the flower.

The diderii on the other hand is a much more compact plant with a more conventional looking flower. Oakhill is great, I have purchased many plants from them over the years.

Hey, I was wondering if you have any bean-leaf neo pollinia, or pollinia from your best smelling and most fragrant neo. Mine kind of sucks, as it has 9 plants, so it is mature, but it only has 3 flowers to a spike. I would be happy to compensate you for it.

In your situation, I would leave everything as it is. St Swithin is rothschildianum (slooooow grower) by philippinense (not slow, but not a fast grower) so I would expect a new growth to take 2-3 years to flower. Three inches on a new growth in less than a year sounds like good progress and indicates along with your good root growth that your plant is happy just as it is. Be patient with it and I suspect you will be happy with the results.

Sorry about the delay in responding to this. I rarely look at this visitor message page.

Oh yes I'm getting the others still. I just had to get my impulse shopping out of the way. LOL It was there, I was there. I wanted it. It was staring at me with puppy dog eyes. LOL! Oh yeah, I relapsed too. You have to see what I'm about to post.

Hi April. Just visiting. I see that we have quilting as another hobby we share. I'll e-mail you some pics. If I take over another room with my sewing, I'm going to have to bunk out in the garage.

I'm still in the planning stage of an orchid quilt. A friend on the forum has beautiful website with all of her orchid pictures. I think if I bribe her with some homemade pastries, she might let me copy some of her pics to transfer.

I wanted to let you know that I got a Paph while at the Central Indiana Orchid Society picnic. It's Paph St. Swithin. Didn't see that ball go left field! I really like it and I liked Kevin's and Jim's, so in a moment of spontaneous impulse and weakness (plus the fact of being surrounded by hundreds, if not thousands, of orchids) I bought it. Now I have to do wallet damage control. (I got more than one orchid! ) I'll just get the others later.
