I now have a Canon 40D digital SLR at work and took it on my vacation to Queensland and used it for the images I posted of the trip.

Very impressed with the results and I think it may have given some leverage at home to get one to replace my old Canon EOS 650 bodies.

Most of the shots were taken with my 100 mm Macro and Macro Ringlite as mentioned before, on the highest non RAW setting. But will be shooting RAW soon.

Looking at investing in a worm farm myself soon, just need to work out where to put it.
Have to find somewhere not too hot or too cold. As you are probably aware we are spoilt over here with worm farm makers and worm breeders.

Look forward to seeing how your GH is progressing. As you once told me, a GH is always a "work in progress" and full heartedly agree.

Hi Anton. Haven't used the camera a lot yet, but have used the movie mode a bit, and like it a lot. I know I am over due for sending you a video of my GH, but I am WAY behind on my yearly repotting. Had company stay over from California, and had to clean house. Well, in a log home that means vacuuming every log, all 10 miles of them, so, lost about a month total.

I am going to have to send my Sigma SLR in to Sigma to be repaired. My button panel for review and deleting is now not working. Tough taking pictures and not being able to do those two things. Have 10,000 shots taken so far, so maybe that is not too unexpected.

I really think you need to start taking pics in raw. You have oh so much more dynamic range with raw. I have a ton of photos that would be a total loss without it.

Guess who now has a wormery. The local guy who provide me with worms is selling me worm compost tea cheap. I think this may put a hold on my mite problem, but it is not killing the mites in one pass, but I'm spraying all my plants every week with the stuff, at 1/2 of full strength. My wormery is starting to produce a little run off, and I have been using it on my problem plants. The big thing is that the tea is very fresh. I spray within a couple of hours of the tea batch being completed. I had my doubts about the stuff people buy in the mail, just too much time between harvest and getting the tea. The recommendation from my worm man is to use the tea withing 12 hours.

Cynthia, I have been wondering how you have been going with your new camera.

I took the majority of the images of my Orchid Vacation on my new Canon 40D with 100mm macro lens and ring flash, plus a few wide angles with the EFS 17mm to 85mm Ultrasonic lens with image stabilization.

Lovely unit to operate, but haven't shot anything in RAW yet, as most I have just shot with the intention of using for posting purposes.

    Regards

    Anton
