Hi Arlene-
Wow....what a month we have had. I haven't been on the forum for about a month; thanks for noticing! My Mother and Father in Law came to visit us from buffalo, NY and we took them to Yosemite. My FIL had a heart attack while we were there and we spent a week in Fresno while he somewhat recovered. It was very scary being so far from civilization and getting a knock on our hotel door in the middle of the night with "Dad's having chest pain." NOW he is back in the hospital with renal failure and on (hopefully) temporary dialysis. I feel so bad for him; he is 81 and has been so active and healthy and this has to happen so far from home. He should be okay to fly home in a few weeks and continue care in NY. Monday was the first time I peaked in on the forum and it seems nothing is new. I didn't post anything, just lurked. How is Fred's Mom?? About a month ago he said she wasn't doing so well and refusing treatment; given our circumstances lately he has popped into my mind now and then. Freddie is doing well but went without water for almost a week while we were unexpectantly stuck in Fresno. I could have had our critter sitter water orchids but elected not to! I hope to have more time to talk on the forum soon and update on our Freddies's. Nice talking to you!!! -Connie

Arlene: Thanks for your friendship. I thought of your little one today while watering my plants. Does she still like her little catts?

solay Sounds like you are going to have a great time. I know what you mean about days off. We blow all our leave in January going to the Philippines and now we have almost no leave left. Can't wait to see what kind of chids you pick up there in Hawaii.

solay Hee! Hee! Hee! That's funny. I had a friend in high school who was the eldest of 5 girls. her parents kept trying for a boy and gave up after the 5th girl.
Anyhow, I'm thinking of Kauai since I've been to Oahu, Maui and the Big Island before. Although Oahu would be cheaper and I know there's more orchid nurseries there. That's the plan for now. There is a remote chance we will be going to Puerto Rico instead in September. It all depends on work (Union job) since that is a business trip. We usually tack on a few extra days with our own expense.
What island are you planning to go to? So far Maui is my favorite. Very peaceful and not too many tourist.

solay Nope we will start trying next year for a December baby. I know it's crazy but we are both born in December and got married in December too. Everything happens in December so why not a baby too?!!! LOL!!!! At least that's the plan.
2 girls huh? My mother had 3 girls. I'm hoping for a girl too. Not much into boys. Of course it will come out whatever it wants to be.
By the way, I'm ordering 20 Catts., a Dtps. (mini), L. tenebrosa (like on one of the recent threads) and a L. pururata var carnea from Jerry. Now I need to figure out a way to sneak it into the room. I'm sooo excited. I love Catts. even better than Cyms. but I never thought I could grow them before. Now I'll see how they do in the long run.
I was trying to save money so that when we take our Hawaii trip this year I can buy some orchids there. Now it looks like I'm spending all my money already. 'Sigh'

solay Arlene, you are probably right. Everyone keeps saying it's all worth it. We are planing a baby next year. Looks like relax time is coming up for you soon. I'm ordering more chids from Jerry now. I'll post them as soon as I get them. Talk to you later!

solay Arlene, sounds like you have a busy schedule. That's one thing I'm afraid of once we start a family. Too busy to do all the things we want. No more last minute traveling and trips.
How many kids do you have and how old? OK, get some rest now.

solay I hope I'm doing this messaging thing right. Thanks. My GH is coming along but the foundation needs to be made larger for the third time. My husband isn't too handy and keeps measuring it too small. Now we have to go buy more 2x4 s and start over. Sheesh!!! I hate to complain cause then he won't help me anymore. If only I knew how to use the power tools. I think I'd have been done by now.
Then yesterday I cut my foot on a garden hoe and had to get a shot and antibiotics. This gardening is getting too dangerous for clumsy me. LOL!!!
How are you doing? How's your mom. Next time you are in town let me know.
