Masd project experiment

I've decided to try something new for the project involving the potting method. It's in the trial phase now (meaning I'm trying it sans plant).

Here's what I'm trying:

Masd. like to be kept moist but not wet, correct? I went and bought 2 1/4 inch and 3 inch clay pots. I soaked both pots for a couple of minutes along with some sphag. I put some of the moss in the bottom of the 3 inch pot so when the smaller pot sits inside, the rims will be level. I then packed the area between the 2 pots with more moss. I placed this into a dish of water so the water level is below the bottom of the 2 1/4 inch pot. For my trial, I've placed dry sphag in the inner pot. After a few hours, the moss inside has become damp but not soggy. I plan to leave it over night to see if the moss in the inner pot ultimately does begin to become soggy.

I figured I'd at least try something different, I'll let you guys know tomorrow about the results.

Hi Doc. I'll be interested in your findings.
I have trouble with moss. And I'm having trouble with my Masde.

When my other Masdies where in all spagh (before they all died) I had troubles too. I got a tip to let it dry out before the next watering.

Well instead of doing that for these. I changed the medium altogether. So far so good and NO LEAF LOSS!!! They're doing great and I can see some new growth coming out and it seem like the roots are growing again. I'm happy

It sounds interesting, Doc! I'm not happy with sphag, but maybe your method will work! Keep us posted.
