| Masd. herradurae living in KY
I got my package from Joe last Friday and immediately repotted it into a 2" clay pot with sphag/tree fern mix. The roots were outstanding and there are several new growths.  It is living in front of the cooler wall and will get very cool air this winter if the vent fan runs and in the summer it will be 2' from a wall of water. If the humidity is high outside, the cooler struggles to keep that area in the low 80's. If the humidity is low, the area stays in the low 70's range. The night temps in the winter will be 60 degrees. The challenge for any masdie here is the night temps in the summer. Brooke  |

They say a watched pot never boils and a watched Masdie doesn't spike. Don't check it for a week and spikes pop up all over the pot..    There are over 30 blooms on this small plant. Brooke |

Amazing! What a great plant and great blooms. Congrats and great growing. Guess I would never be able to bloom these because I can't seem to ignore them for that long.

neat! mine is... alive. it doesn't seem too happy in the warmth (i.e., 75 degrees.) it was REALLY happy over the winter up against the windows.

How beautiful. Mine is just sitting there. Can't complain since it's still alive and is a big accomplishment for me. Now yours is just blooming like mad and it's just so neat. Hope mine will surprise me with a bloom. All I want is one.

Brooke....wow, you are clearly an EXCELLENT grower! You have done exceptionally well with this little gem! It is a JOY to see an orchid so well grown and flowered! I dont' see so much as a speck or tear on a single one of those leaves!!! Not to mention so many flowers!

Thanks everyone, this is a really interesting masdie. The spikes do appear, grow and bloom very fast as compared to my others. We had several days of cool cloudy weather and the watering schedule was greatly reduced. The pot finally needed water and presto, the spikes were all up. The spikes also all appeared at the same time. Thanks Kevin but I can't really take the credit for the good foliage. This masdie really appears to tolerate the heat better than some I have. I have some pretty ugly foliage on some and some of the others with this same foliage. They all grow in the same area so it has to be species dependent. Of course you need it Kat. Brooke |
