Wink Hello from San Francisco, New to Orchids

Hi everyone! I recently got a dendrobium as a housewarming gift. I've always wanted orchids, but I was just afraid that I wouldn't know how to take care of them. That's why I'm here! If anyone has any basic advice or can point me in the direction of some good resources, I'd REALLY appreciate it!

It would help to know what general type of Dendrobium it is, as the culture is a little different for the two common types. Warm growing Phalaenopsis types have sprays of flowers originating from the very top of the canes and held well above or away from the plant. The cool growing (during winter) nobile types have very short flower stems originating up and down the length of the cane. The Phal types have stiff leaves, and the nobile types have more floppy leaves. Let us know which it is, and if it has a tag, let us know what it says. Cynthia, Prescott, AZ
