Hello from Belgium

Hello everyone,
I've been following activities on the forum for a few weeks now and decided to join in.
I live in Belgium and am new to orchids. I have about 40, mostly hybrids. I'm very lucky with hybrid phals, I have one plant that has been producing flowers since June last year. Because this is a success I decided to take it a litlle further and have now started a small collection of botanical plants.
My cycnoches peruvianum is about to bloom (13 flowers). I'll try to post some pictures later. I also have a phal kunstlerii with 1 flower, which is really fantastic. The rest of the plants are growing and not in bloom.
Apart from orchids, I also have a husband and 2 Golden Retrievers, which means that orchids in the garden are out of the question.
I've already found useful information here and I'm sure I'll find lots more in the future!
Rgds,
Sabien

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I am already drooling at the thought of seeing the photos of your Cycnoches peruvianum. If you have been looking around the forum, then you know we love pictures.

Txs everyone,
I realize that 40 seems like a lot, but it just sort of happened to me. I started out with a couple, and then every time I went to the flower shop she had a different kind and I just couldn't resist, and then people started giving me their leftovers thinking their plant was dead because the flowers were gone.
And now I'm starting my little collection of "the real thing". The first challenge is keeping the plants alive and making them grow. That's the objective for 2008.
Rgds,
Sabien

That's exactly how you become an orchidaholic! It happens to all of us. We are all enablers on this board, so watch out!

And I just had to add my Phal. kunstlerii.
The first picture is from 23 June when the flowered had just opened. The second picture is from yesterday.
The petals are completely stretched out now.

Wow, I love the Cycnoches. It's so pretty. I don't think mine will be as pretty but I'm so excited to see it bloom.
How long did it take from first spike showing between the leaves to first bloom to open?

Txs everyone. And yes, I'm very proud of my little flowers.
@ Solay: I bought the plant at the end of April. It had its first spike then. That one started to flower and then I knocked it down while cleaning (yes, that's how stupid I can be!). This is the second spike. I think it started a little over a month ago, but I'm not sure.
