Linda G is on a distinguished road
Red face Hi, I'm a newbie.

My only orchid was part of a gift basket received several months ago.
After it quit blooming, I cut it about halfway down the stem. I think it
needs to be repotted in a larger container. It hasn't bloomed again but
the leaves and stem look healthy. There are roots on top of the soil.
What next?

Roots on top are OK. Just maintain the plant without over watering. Make sure the mix is VERY close to dry before watering again. If your plant is a Phalaenopsis, it will start a new bloom spike some time next winter. Sometimes you will get the old spike to branch and produce more flowers shortly after the old ones fade. If it is not a Phal, then we need to know which one it is if you want a little more advice. Phals will be triggered to bloom when days get shorter (don't leave the lights on till the same time every night), and when the nights get cooler,50-60F (don't pamper it and keep it warm at night).
