Hello

Hi,

Just wanted to stop by and say hello to everyone. I live in St. Paul, MN and I grow my orchids on a windowsill. Proper lighting has been a big challenge in the winter time so I've had to use artificial lighting to supplement. I don't have that many orchids yet but I'm hoping to add more someday when I have a sunroom. Right now, I grow mostly phal hybrids, oncidium hybrids, about 10 neos and a few others. Glad to finally be a part of the forum and hope to learn a lot from all the fellow orchid geeks.

Hello and welcome. The first thing I must ask is what neos do you have??? and the second thing is do you have pictures of your plants you can post? Once you make five posts you can post pictures. I use artificial lighting too for the majority of my plants too.

Hi Neo, I looked at your plant list and if you have grown all plants successfully then you are growing very well. So many neo's, you are obviously fond of the them. Welcome to the happy geek show, lots of nice people, masses of advice. You should make many friends.

Bill

Welcome to the forum, neogroupie. There are a lot of very intelligent growers on this board. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Hi Neogroupie!! I too am new to this forum. When I bought my first phal orchid, I had soooo many questions. I would always type my questions into my address bar and for some reason I would always end up on this site. It turns out, people were asking the same questions that I had been stumped with; even little intricate details about my plant that I thought only I was wondering about! And the replys to the questions always helped me out so much! The people here seem to really care and are always willing to lend some first-hand advice. ~So, even though we're new here, pretty soon we'll be able to help others also. Goodluck!

Maybe later on, you could give me some advice about artificial lighting, I will be trying that this winter. :-)

Hello and welcome Christina! I myself, am growing with LED lighting. There are myriad threads about artificial lighting on this board. Just click search in the above toolbar, and type in "lighting" and click "go". And voila! Many thread titles will appear. You can read and respond to any comments in those threads and they will be re-activated! If you have a specific question, feel free to start a new thread! This is a great place to learn!

Thanks for the warm welcome, all! Kortney, I have my orchid list updated so you can see which ones I have on there. I love them all but the variegated ones are my favs. I do more reading than posting on the forums so I'll have to figure out how to get a pic on here.

Thanks, digitalgate. I haven't grown any fruit or vegies yet, but maybe later on.

Good grief, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to put my flickr pics onto my album here. Ugh!!! Does anyone have a clue how to transfer pics from flickr on here?? I sure don't.
