Hello everyone I just joined the forum today and I'm really happy about it because I can see that we truly share this thing about orchids! I'm originally from Chile, but I have lived in this country for 27 years already (I can't believe it) and by the look of it, here's where I'll stay. I live in New York City and about 3 years ago I attended the yearly orchid show here in Manhattan, and that was it, I fell in love with orchids. I spent quite a few of my hard earned dollars in 3 or 4 of those babies: a phal, a dendrobium, a cattleya and a "lady's slipper"(paph?). For a time all went well, until the flowers fell off the plants, and that was it. Only the lady's slipper ever flowered again, but this year even that one didn't. I live in an apartment with windows facing west. I guess the worst problem is the heating and the air conditioning, but I can hardly do without either, can I? Any tips about how to maintain the best possible conditions for the plants, given the circumstances?
Thanks a lot!! |
