Serious problem, is there a cure?

As a new member, I have to ask this learned forum for help.
I was a happy stable individual with a handful of seemingly content Phalaenopsises(?Sp.) living in a couple of bathrooms in Singapore, when a friendly contractor said I must meet his uncle, who had been specializing in orchids for fifty years. Since meeting this friendly man I have done little but worry about sunlight/shade, water, charcoal etc.etc., and an area of the garden is more reminiscent of the hanging gardens. I have a feeling that this is not one of those problems that goes away by talking to fellow sufferers, in fact I feel a strong urge to talk to others about ......ORCHIDS!
Kind regards

You know how there is AA for people with problem drinking? Think of this as OE - Orchid Enablers - for those with an orchid problem.

The first step is admitting it's not a problem!

Many thanks for the kind responses. Sorry to be so slow in reply. You don't know what busy is until you retire. My good friend is Mr Loy of Pasir Ris Farmway 2, Jacky Garden. I will certainly be there on the first Sunday in July, ready to learn.
Meanwhile, OT, a pair of Bee hummingbirds has visited at dusk for the last few evenings. Have other Singaporeans seen much in the way of hummingbirds? Sun-birds we have nesting, but these are the first hummers I have seen here.
Some of these Orchid names take a bit of getting hold of....
Patrick.

Not a Singaporean, but I am accosted daily by hummingbirds. They swear at me if I don't leave enough water for them.

Hmm.. which part of Singapore do you live in? I've never heard of humming birds here. wow! Hey, I'm planning on visiting the Pasir Ris farm this Sunday! A friend offered to take me, so I've gladly agreed... Hope the place doesn't bankrupt me!

Oh please tell this to my significant other. He thinks I'm batty for wanting orchid after orchid after orchid. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "what's the difference between [insert orchid here] and [insert orchid here]." And every time he does this, I launch into a long winded response on what the differences are while his eyes glaze over and he begins to drool. I guess what I'm trying to say is, you either love orchids, or you don't. You get bit by the bug and that's all she wrote.

Welcome to the addiction. I promise to be a good enabler!!

Welcome to the forum Patrick. OK, here's my idea of a cure.

I was thinking how about curing with the same treatment they give to cure people with phobias. You know, if you're deathly afraid of snakes so why not throw you into a tank full of them?!!! Hummm.... I should tell my husband about that treatment. Fill the whole house with orchids to cure me!!! Sounds good to me.
