Aloha! I've been on this forum for a few weeks and only now have gotten around to posting this introduction. In any case, I'm live on the Big Island and have been growing orchids for over 20 years. My nursery is a small commercial operation doing internet sales almost exclusively, either directly or through Ebay (royhilo). For many years, I've been doing hybridizing of Catts, Vanda, Phals, etc. Getting more into the Cymbidiae/ Catasetinae, and playing with some non-orchids (hibiscus) now. Along with the hybridizing, I do the lab work as well.

When there's some time available, my wife and I enjoy shore-line fishing and ballroom dancing (which we need to do more of, of course).

Always looking to add special items for use in hybridizing so please let me know if you have something of exceptional quality for sale/trade.

We are in the midst of major reconstruction right now. Putting up two new shadehouses and having the house painted. The painting will be over soon but the shadehouses will take quite a bit more time.

We plan to go camping this weekend. Maybe we'll get lucky.

Not many opportunities to go ballroom dancing here, but my wife and I are members of a dance club so we attend their functions which are held once every several months.

I'm just the helper and my wife is the great angler. Here's her largest catch so far (not counting me). She's been on the cover of Hawaii Fishing News and has had other articles about her catches.

That was a sailfish and although we didn't weigh it, our friend estimated it at 150 lb.

I am really interested in learning more about the Catasetinae orchids. I have recently discovered them and have become addicted. I look forward to hearing about your experiences with these since there are so few places offering them.

I must know, how long did it take to bring that monster fish in? Did she have to take a nap after?

That fish is huge. What happens next....invite the neighbors over and eat it, mount it?

Jay, I'd be glad to share what I know about Catasetinae. Feel free to ask about what you want to know.

I think it took about 30 minutes to bring the fish in. Was very exciting with it jumping all over the place, not unlike mahimahi (which she's also gotten a large one of). She was so stoked she was ready for another one.

Sandra, right after we brought the fish up, we cut it up and gave it away to whoever was around. We only brought home about 20 pounds for ourselves and our friends. Made good eating.

Wow! What a catch! The biggest I've caught is a 1 pound trout.
