Hi I am new

Hi I am new and happy I found this site. I have a few orchids mostly vandas, dendrobiums, and phals. In Miami,Fl the climate is somewhat harsh to
know WHERE to grow your orchids (for me at least) since the sun always
playing games at different times of the day.
Anyway right now I just got 4 new phals and am having a whopper of a nightmare where to place them in the house

Hi beba53! ! Phals like a bright indirect light. We have different culture needs in NY than you have, but I would say back a little from an east or west window. I have a couple in a south window, but they have other plants in front of them to block the strongest light. Good luck with your new babies!

Chickita,
I apologize, but I have to disagree with this. Sort of.

Phals love constant slight airflow over them. CONSTANT. This prevents fungus from growing and also helps dry out the medium to prevent rot. If you were to put a Phal near a doorway, especially in bud, you have a chance of blasting the buds. (Sudden drafts, especially cool ones, will cause this. ) Phals are picky and don't like sudden changes. As for lighting, Patticake is right. Bright, indirect, diffused light is the best for Phals.

I have mine facing East, no curtains. I live in Indiana.

Hi and Welcome,

Just wanted to suggest that based on the weather conditions in Florida you could invest in some sun vandas or makaros, they love sun and they bloom all the time.

Georgia from sunny Jamaica.

I just moved mine to an east facing window too! They were getting too much light under my lights and turning dark red and black on the edges and under the leaves. My blinds are slatted but they are parallel to the ground.

I agree with u i was thinking of my old orchid, personnaly my orkid gets wind from a fan that gets turned on all night long but like u said its slight but partly constant, & again personally my chid's not a fan of indirect sunlight, my last phal was in indirect sunlight & died caus of 2 much sun & was... burnt but besids that i totaly agree with u. but I live in canada & its REALY HOT in summer & sometimes even winter & theres not much moister & wind were i live but sometimes we get thoughs storms but not that much, anyway i do agree with u.
