Question First orchid, does it seem overcrowded???

Hi
This is my first orchid, ive been checking out other pics to try to compare them to mine so that i can get a rough idea of how im doing. It seems to have produced alot of flowers lately and although im not complaining others pics of orchids seem to have alot less. I wanted to check that i shouldnt be trimming it down so that it doesnt overcrowd or is that normal? I repotted it today as the pot seemed a little on the small side. The flowers dont seem to be as healthy looking lately.

Thanks!
Sarah

Your pot looks fine to me. Just be sure that you have the plastic pot in something heavy enough to offset the weight of that fabulous display of flowers The problem with a larger pot is that all that medium tends to hold more water than the plant can use in a given period of time This could lead to root rot, so you might want to check out the skewer method for watering orchids on the forum search tab. This should enable you to keep that gorgeous bunch of blooms and repeat the same thing next year--Good growing

No it does not seem overcrowded. The pot size looks perfect to me.

Thanks for the replys. Its acually looking alot better since it has been in the new pot and the sticks repositioned. The flowers have seemed to spread out into there own bit of space instead of being pressed up against eachother and looking overcrowded. Looks lovely now. Thanks again for your comments

To echo 11Orchid126, with this particular kind of orchid, yes, lots fo flowers on top is good. That's what they do. Enjoy it!

Gee, Sarah! If you would like to trade it for one with less flowers (or no flowers at all) but certainly uncrowded, let me know! I have lots of them. A beautiful display. Nice growing!
