Thanks! I think the paph. has the best names ever. The 'Saltman' is a kitchen orchid, along with Milt. Robert Jackson 'Wild Thing,' which either has an eye (most likely) or a spike starting (least likely) - either way, I'm very happy; as the photos show, this poor orchid went through a lot and nearly died:

Wow - thanks! While I think my orchids are 'special' (because they're alive) I know they're really probably pretty common and no big deal, so your compliments on my plants and photography made my week! Thanks again!!

On edit: I took my avatar photo with my iPhone, and the rest with a more real camera.

Thanks! I could not resist that Den ... and since I got it Trader Joe's, there was no reason to resist it - it was only $8. I don't know if you can tell, but it has five new shoots already. It releases a very mild, very sweet fragrance at night. I'm pretty sure my next orchid will be from this group.

Right now I just have orchidementia: more survivors than murdered orchids, so I have the delusion I might be able to grow them, coupled with Magpie Syndrome (the inability to pass up bright, beautiful things). I've already got my eye on yet another Milt with striking lavender and yellow flowers, and my husband wants me to try to grow a vanilla, even though it's a vine and may require special lights. He doesn't care; once he found out vanilla was more than a flavor, he was eager for me to add it to the collection!

Whenever you decide to join the orchidolics meeting I'll be there with ya! (helping you get more that is, LoL!) Magpie syndrome heh? Maybe that's what I have, I've been getting these orchids with bright or bold and contrasting colors. You've got some really nice 'chids!

Vanilla huh? I thought of that too but it gets really large in size right? Let us know how that goes.
I think I need to go a Trader Joe's soon. I'm out of milk. Yeah right!
