Hello From Sunny California

Hi everyone. Over the past 30 some years, I have managed to grow (and kill) orchids in four different states from coast to coast and in between. Grow a little of many different genera but heavy into Catt hybrids, Oncidium intergenerics, and Phrags & Paphs. Now trying Bulbos and Disas (not so bright for someone now living where we average 40+ days of over 100 degrees f).

Jerry

Hi & welcome to the forum, Jerry! I, too, live in central valley, but about 3 hours north of you.

You got Disas?! Which colors? I grow Disas, too, since last spring! They survived the 100+ heat last summer. I've divided the three I bought last year and now have more...might have to trade a few soon.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. PhalPal, I will keep you posted as to the success with the Bulbos and Disas. Bulbos should do fine here and most of what I have are seedlings. They seem happy enough in both pots and mounted. As for the Disas, well, I am enclosing a picture of some of the seedlings. I must confess that this picture was taken quite a while ago and while most have grown and are developing off sets, some have succumbed and most don't look this good. Arlene, I can't remember what the exact crosses are just this minute, but most have at least 50% uniflora in their parentage. I would be happy to trade with you (provided I don't manage to kill them all first)!!

Jerry,

Did you buy a flask or a compot of Disa seedlings?

Thanks Patticake. Arlene, I purchased a number of seedlings through The Gore Orchid Conservatory. I had purchased Phrags from him before and was quite pleased with the quality. I forget the exact details. He does not actually produce the Disa seedlings; they are from Wally Orchard who I believe is in Oregon.

Hello and welcome to the forum! I look forward to hearing about your Bulbos and Disas as those are two groups of orchids that I don't currently grow.

Ok, Connie. Just remind me sometime in October, when I repot/divide them. Lately, I've been having more senior moments. LOL

Jay, if you want to try one, let me know. I'll send one to you.
