| Hi--Should Have Introduced Myself Hi, I recently posted on your board asking for help with my Phalaenospis and got some very good advice back. I should have introduced myself. My name is Erin. I live in Portland, OR and am about to graduate from Reed College. I'm a plant person (grew up on a farm and plant nursery), love to garden and keep houseplants, but I didn't try orchids until my boyfriend gave me one last summer. I've always heard that they could be hard and that a lot of people have trouble getting them to re-bloom; but my first orchid has been so pretty and so much fun to learn about that I'm determined to figure it out. I've recently acquired seven more. They're all young and aren't old enough to flower, but I figured that this should be a good way for me to learn how to keep and make them happy. If I do things right maybe they will bloom! I remain impressed by these plants and the people who are able to successfully cultivate them. Thank you all for being so eager to share your experience, knowledge, and questions. I have already learned so much and I love your forum. Best, Erin |

| Welcome to the forum Erin. We have about five great orchid shoes in the valley here from February through the first of April. You will have to catch a few next year. Also a couple in the fall that I can think of - one in Portland in October and another in Seaside about the same time. Enjoy! |
