| Hello All You Orchid Geeks My name is Jim. I've been growing orchids for 15 years... I am the past president of the Batavia Orchid Society.. I live in a suburb of Chicago... I grow under lights in my basement.... My favorite type of orchids right now are Paphs, which make up about 1/3 of my collection... I have about 150 orchids in all. I have many photos I will post from time to time.. I am a big fan of all the orchid forums. I am married, with grandchildren, and retired from the motion picture industry.... I love gardening, ponding, and orchids.... I'm glad to be aboard...... Jim

| Just took a look at your Paph. lowii photo in the April photo contest. I must say that is a very nice show. I like how close they together they are. I was wondering if you could confirm something for me. Do the flowers of lowii face toward the light? I accidentally re-oriented my plant in mid-bloom and caused one of the buds to open at an angle. Also, is this the same with all plants? I find it interesting how some lowii have a twist and some do not in the petals.

| Thanks for all the nice welcomes. Jay I try not to change the orientation of my plants they do reach for the light. The petals on my Paph. lowii are 6".

| Hi Jim, Welcome. You have some beautiful looking Phaphs there. I have only been a member for about 6 months now but I love it here. There are so many wonderful people to help you out when you need it. I live in a northwest suburb of Chicago close to Hausermanns Orchids which I am sure you are aware of. Looking forward to hearing from you on many fronts. |

| WOW Jim you have some gorgeous Paphs!! Kevin - did you see these????? #1 pic is very similiar to my first Paph I just bough recently,# 2 is stunning too! Thanks for posting; looking forward to many more!
