howdy, y'all

Hope this finds everyone well. I have posted a few times here and there...so since I jumped in without doing the introduction thing, I thought I should formally introduce myself to make it official. Hi, I'm DT. I'm a rookie orchid freak, and have amassed a collection of 70 or so plants of various species in just under two years. Quantity does not equal quality, however, so I'll be hoping for guidance and advice to keep these jewels thriving! Happy day to y'all.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

70 orchids in two years! That is a nice collection. What kinds of orchids do you have or prefer? Do you have any pictures? Look forward to hearing about your orchids.

I have LOADS of photos...however, is it fair to post pics that I took when I first bought the little jewel? i've had only a few phals, a mini oncidium, and my "virgin" orchid, a milto-brassia hybryd that have been repeat performers. I plod along and try to do the right thing...ALL of them are out on a screened in pool/patio area but because I have a hard time keeping up with work, the pets, the house and the spouse, my orchid care is, by necessity, of the "less is more" nature. The vandas are my biggest frustration...so naturally, I bought no less than 10 new ones the other day...all bursting with bloom. I'll figure them out, eventually... I'll attach a few photos of those that bloomed as a result of my feeble care as soon as I figure out how to do so. Thanks for the warm welcome, and for those not following the saga yet, there's some great reading on the thread about the black orchid..."Fredclarkeara After Dark"...

Show and tell time...

Ok, here's a few pics, all except the orange vanda are those that I've had bloom for me after the initial purchase blooms. The spotted magenta phal was a particular delight as I bought it from the half-price (aka near death) shelf at a local gardening shop. The oncidium is so cute...it was my first attempt at mounting and she's perched upon a small chunk of wood. The pale yellow spider-looking orchid has the most heady fragrance imaginable. And the only reason I included the vanda is I think it's such a beautiful color and I love how the sun makes the petals sparkle. Yeah, I'm incredibily hooked. Hope y'all enjoy!
