Red face Hello from Boston

Hello! I have jsut joined Orchid forums and am VERY new to growing orchids. I have been smitten by them for as long as I can remember but have jsut decided to venture out and try growing them. I bought by first about 3 months ago and am up to 6. I have two phals, a paph., a dendrobium and a cattleya hybrid (i think?).

I am doing well with the phals as there is a plethora of information for them. I would like some advice on my dendrobium and what i think is a cattleya hybrid though. Light conditions and fertilizing especially. I have them in a south east exposure window and am unsure of their culture.

Thanks! Look forward to learning some interesting things!

Hi & welcome to the forum!

Can you post pics of your orchids? It will help i.d. the Catt. and i.d. the type of Den. There are two types of Dens -- Phal Den and Nobile Den. Once we know, someone growing it will jump in and give culture info.

Hi SShide77, Welcome to the wonderful world of orchids,lol.--Sometimes not so wonderful, but always a great adventure--We have lots of members who can help you weather the storms, so to speak. One question: How far is Hamilton from Melrose, Mass. Melrose is a suburb of Boston,I was born there and I love phals

Nice to meet you SShide77! I think there are some stickies on this forum that talk about dendrobium care and cattleya care. I'm not sure what kind of hybrid you have, but most hybrids will have similar care to just a regular cattleya. Good luck!
