Another Newbie

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum - my husband found it while looking for advice for one of our sick orchids (we purchased several sick Phals from a garden center and, after repotting, are nursing them back to health). We've caught the orchid "bug" - we have 5 phals, 2 oncs, 1 dend, 1 phrag, 1 paph, and 1 vanda. We'll most likely get another orchid next payday.

We're getting very serious about our orchids, to the point that we're planning a grow room in our basement and a lathe house outdoors for summer. I'm in Wisconsin.

A little about me: I'm going back to school after taking several years off to finish a degree in botany and biochemistry. That said, though, I am a *complete* novice when it comes to orchids. My goal is to learn as much as I can about them, however. I also enjoy playing with my dog, playing the clarinet, gardening in general, writing, baking, and soapmaking.

I look forward to meeting you all!

Star

Welcome!!

Hi Dinostar, and welcome to the forum. Like you, i am a newbie too, but i just got moved to junior member status a couple of days ago. You and your husband could not have stumbled upon a more helpful, and friendly community. Any time you have a question, just post it, or pick one of the senior members and pm them. Everyone is so helpful and nice. Plus people post lots of pics which keep it really interesting!
Well, good luck with the grow room, that's a pretty cool idea for those Wisconsin winters. Also congrats with going back to school. . And, an extra high five for having a hubby whose into the 'chids as well! Mine is starting to get into it too. Matter of fact, we are going to an orchid festival tomorrow. Have a great weekend and once again, welcome to the community!!
