What kind of orchids do you have? Do you have any photos?

Don't hesitate to ask questions, there are a lot of people here with an incredible amount of knowledge to share. And they like to share too.

Hi and welcome to the forum soo.coop. If you would be so kind as to go up to the
"User CP" (Top left hand corner of this post) and update your location, it would be
helpful for us to assist you in future posts. Would love to hear about what you are

Here is a good site that can give you basic culture information for your types of orchid. AOS | Home

It may be that your orchids are not getting enough light for blooming. Phal spikes are supposed to dry up after the blooms die off, so you didn't do anything wrong. A little more information on where you grow your plants, i.e. windowsill, outdoors, southern exposure versus northern type iof nformation will help us help you.

And Welcome to the group soo.coop!

I grow my phals in a greenhouse about 6+4feet, its heated to about 55-60c. i have to
use shading now the sun, when it comes out, is getting stronger. i used to grow cactus in it, with a bit more success I might add, I needed a change.
