| New member from Jerusalem Hi Everyone! I am from Jerusalem and I am fairly new to the Orchid addiction (one year). Last year, I bought an Orchid that started my obsession. Currently, I have, 4phals, one mini Cymbidium and one mini Oncidium (in my house). The good news is that my Phal from Last year has already started a spike which is around 6 inches now. I also use a humidifier. Although in the winter there is good humidity, we have periods of very dry desert winds in the summer where the humidfier is much needed. So, it is great to be part of this group and hope I will learn and share knowledge. Oh, I forgot to mention that I have one Orphys and one Orchis which remain outside (terrestrial). Those need a dry period in the summer where they dry out and will start new growths in the winter. Thanks, Fadi       |

| Hi Fadi!  Welcome to the gang! It's nice to have you with us. Desert winds- I can't imagine. It's still pretty cold here- We were 19F last night. I've been growing about as long as you. It's an addiction!

| Fadi - Welcome to the forum!  I am so glad to see another orchid grower from a desert region. I live in the Colorado/Sonoran Desert in Palm Springs. I always have humidity issues. Can't wait to hear more about your orchids. |

| Thank you guys for all the nice words and the great welcome I have attached pictures of my Orchids, including my first Phal (the reason I love Orchids!) which is in spike now. I am excited about that one. You can see that it is also losing its bottom leaf in pic number 6. Fadi  |

| Thank you Sandra Picture 3 is a mini Cymbidium which I bought two months ago while in bloom. As for pic 8, these are two terrestrial Orchids from the Mediterranean region so they are outside my house. The more colorful one is an "Orchis tridentata" while the other one which shares the same pot is an "Orphys Lutea minor". These will dry up soon and will not be watered till next autumn when they will grow new leaves and eventually bloom in the following spring. Fadi |
