Smile Hi everyone

Hi, I'm from St. Paul, Minnesota. (and yes it does get pretty cold here)
I started getting interested in Orchids probably about 5 years ago. There used to be a garden center by me, and I started out with a phal. They were so beautifull that I kind of went crazy, and bought about 5 of them. Try as I would, I could never get them to rebloom, and I thought maybe I just didn't have the right conditions for them, so I bought an orchid book, and started reading up on them. I also went on the internet and started reading about them there also. Pretty soon I discovered I could go on ebay and buy them, and I went a little crazy there too. ( not just with phals) I bought several different types, and my husband helped me to make a plant table where I could adjust the lights up or down depending on the size of the plants.
To make a long story short- I now have about 30-40 different types of orchids, along with some other tropical plants, and I have now gotten some to bloom. I've had some casualties also, but I kind of think that goes with the territory.
My sister, Barb, and I bought so many plants we were joking that we should attend a plants support group to stop buying so many plants.
I can't say that I know a lot about them, because there's always something more to learn, but I know a little bit about them, and I enjoy them enough that I keep trying. I'm sure that I'll learn a lot here. You all seem like really nice people.

Hi Soozieq and welcome to the forum

Got pics of anything in bloom now? We'd love to see them! Also fair warning,,,many orchidolics here, myself including. Ebay is the BEST!!! Many deals there for orchids, but do be careful.

Glad that you found us and will talk to you soon

Hi & welcome to the forum.

I started out different almost 4 years ago. My first orchid was a Cymbidium given to me as a house-warming gift.

Yes, we love looking at pics of 'chids.

Hi, I only have a Vanda, and a Bolopetalum, and a couple of phals blooming at the moment. My Cirropetalum was just in bloom a little while ago, but it didn't stay in bloom very long. I'm not sure if that's normal or not because this is the first year I've gotten any to bloom. I have a lot of "starter" plants, so I'm sure a lot of them won't bloom for years. I would love to send a couple of pictures to you, but I hate to admit, I'm not real sure how to do it. I do have a digital camera, and do have pictures on my computer, but I'm not sure how to get them to this website.
If anybody knows how, please tell me, okay?

I work at the Linders flower Mart in Minnetonka, by a Perkins. Don't you do that anymore?
