Talking Hello everyone!

Hi! I'm not exactly new to the world of Orchids...but I am new to the world of properly caring for them with the right enviroments! Until recently I have always bought the nursery/grocerystore kinds and a week ago I found a nursery that had an amazing assortment of them!! So I bought a few, and a couple of books....now I'm hooked!

Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of information here to help you care for your orchids. What kinds did you pick up? Do you have any pictures of them?

Hope you enjoy your stay here.

Jay

Hi liquidmojo I'm glad you discovered a good nursery. I started with grocery store orchids too. Sometimes it's a little depressing seeing the state they're in, but I have had good luck with my purchases What types are you growing? We love pictures!

Hi Liquidmojo and welcome to the forum Is your user name something from Austin Powers?

My first three were Wally world (Wal-Mart) specials. I only have the two now, but yeah, sad to see them sometimes when you walk into the Lawn and Garden Dept. They almost look like drowned tortured rats.

Can't wait to see your pics of your plants. If you need any help there is plenty of members here to give advice and lots of information on the threads.

Wow! That was the quickest I have ever recieved any response to a post I added to a website!!LOL Well, to answer your questions...1. "liquidmojo" is the name I came up with for my studio about ten years ago and I have used it ever since...I get Austin Poweres comment all the time now!LOL 2. I do not have any photos of my orchids as of yet, up until two weeks ago I only had one and never thought to take a picture of it, but I will be doing so soon! Not that the pics will be impressive...most of my recent aquisitions are out of bloom and looking terribly well worn, three of them are blooming right now and despite their shape are beautiful!!! 3.As for the kinds, I have been researching websites looking for pictures to try to figure that out! When you get access to the far backroom of a nursery, and are given the deal of a lifetime you don't really look for the orchids with their nameplates in the pot!LOL I have figured out some. I think I have two Oncidium, two Phalaenopsis, and two Doritaenopsis; the ones I know are two Alcra. Pacific Nova, one Dendrobium Salaya Fancy, and a Catalla hybrid with a very long name!!! And of course my baby!!!! A Dracula Vampira seedling that I just recieved today! I'm still bouncing around the house in excitement..
