| Hi everyone I recently joined the Orchid Geeks forum, and I want to introduce myself to everyone here  My name is Alden, I live in Fullerton CA (near Los Angeles). I work driving a public bus for Orange County.I have been reading many of the posts here, and am learning so much new information. I really enjoy reading how the different members got hooked on growing orchids, so I'll do that here myself. I have always been interested in horticulture from an early age, when my father had us kids helping in the yard and vegetable garden. I remember those times fondly. About three years ago I was driving a bus route back and forth and I would see this small private owned nursery that had a big sign out front that read 'ORCHIDS'. On my next day off a friend and I went to check it out, we both walked out with a Phalaenopsis. Well, my buddy's lasted about six months. I have re blommed mine twice so far, and increased my collection to about a dozen plants of different varieties. I have a few plants in bloom now including the first plant I bought, and will post a few pics if I can. Thanks for having this forum, now all I need is a twelve step program for orchids  Alden     |

| Welcome Alden!  Good to have you with us! You're right on the money with the addiction thing! I too, have loved plants since I was a child. I think it has to be a part of you, to have the patience etc. for orchids. They are great aren't they? When I'm down, or have a lot on my mind, I just go and stare at them endlessly. Great therapy! Great meeting you- Good luck with your chids!

| Welcome to the forum Norris. The best advice that you will get on this forum for the twelve-steps is: Buy More Orchids! We are all addicted and show no restraint in expanding our collections. Good luck with yours. |

| Welcome Norris, thank you for sharing your story, I dont think there is a twelve step program for orchid addiction, we all admit to being hooked, and loving it! |

| Hi Norris and welcome So glad that you found us and shared your story with us. Sorry no 12 step program here. We're not a very good influence on fellow orchidolics. We'll just tell you to buy more. Not good, we know, but it's great !!!
