| one more newbie Today is the first that I have found this forum, and being a relatively new orchid addict,I will be checking here every day. At present I have several orchids blooming in my bay window which faces southeast, east, and northeast. One is Blc. Copper Queen, one is possibly Lc.Memoria Robert Strait 'Carmela'(the plant was mislabelled when I bought it),a NOID Dendrobium, a NOID white Phal, and the buds on Lc.'Secret Love' started to open today. Having plants in bloom in the winter here in zone 4 is a great pleasure, and I hope to become a bit more knowledgable about orchids as I read the various postings. Nice to meet you all! Nancy |

| I'm glad to hear that Copper Queen is such a free bloomer. I wasn't too happy with the color of the blooms the first few days, but they do develop into a nice shade of yellow with a few splotches of maroon. It is the only orchid I have that undergoes such a color change. I have discovered why so many people can't get enough orchids. I have signed up for a trip to the Montreal Botanical Garden in June, and hope to get away from the rest of the group to spend a lot of time with the orchid collection.Montreal Is only 50 miles from here. |
