| hi everyone! Just thought I'd introduce myself! My name is Emily. I'm a graduate student studying entomology. I started growing plants about 3 years ago as an undergrad. My main obsession is carnivorous plants. Lately, I've been finding myself extending that love of unusual plants more and more. I've been growing orchids for about a year now. Nice to meet you all! |

| thank you all for the kind welcomes! BlakeeBoo, I'm not entirely certain which sundew species you're thinking of. But there's nothing cooler than finding them in the wild...they're like hidden little jewels! made4engineering No, I haven't heard of an epiphytic Utricularia! I find that somewhat surprising...as a genus they are either aquatic or grow in very damp swampy soil. I'll have to do a little research. articuno75 My current orchids are: Encyclia cochleata (Or whatever they're calling it these days..) Epidendrum capricornu Maxillaria tenuifolia Miltassia Shelob 'Webmaster' Paphiopedilum exul Paphiopedilum Anhinga 'HOF Jumbo' x Paphiopedilum Hsinying Magic 'Voodoo' Paphiopedilum Hsinying Magic 'Voodoo' x Paphiopedilum Red Shift Phalaenopsis NOID (yellow with red venation) small so far.....you have to have some self-control when you live in a space as small as mine, though! |

| hehe, sure, if you like pictures of leaves and no flowers! they really aren't much to look at right now... the Mtssa. and the 2 Paph. hybrids were salvaged from the supermarket, marked down to like $1 after all the flowers dropped off. Those guys are still looking a little rugged. I might have a picture somewhere of the E. capricornu... the only one I've been able to get to bloom! |

| Emily- My first orchids were rescues - scratch & dent specials too! It's good to use these to see if they'll grow and perform for you before investing a lot. Good luck with them, and keep us posted with progress. BTW I was looking at a display the other day of Sundews! They look really cool!
