| Hello Out There Hi, Found this great forum while looking for some info on an orchid. I have used the AOS forum, but this one is more active and fun! Anyway, I have inherited about 300 orchids (that is a long story) a year ago last January. I built a greenhouse to house them and it has been quite an education and real pleasure. Thank goodness I am a patient person as some of them are quite young. I have written down all the ones that have identification tags so I can keep a handle of whats going on....Some I have lost, but on the whole they are quite healthy. I live in Central California and enjoy gardening and plants in general. I have joined our local orchid club and read books and get on these forums. Needless to say I am hooked on orchids and I really look forward to getting some good information and help on this forum. Thanks, Nancy |

| Oh you are so lucky!!! There are a lot of members from Cali on here. You'll love it here. Now you know your 300 will soon become higher numbers real quick right? Very addictive, LOL. And we don't help either, LOL. (Hard to help fellow orchidolics.)

| Hello, Photos of the greenhouse! Hi again, Here are some photos I just took. They are a bit cloudy as I just watered and fed this morning. The greenhouse is 9x16 and I already wish it were bigger. "So many orchids, so little space"! I have an auto exhaust fan when it gets to warm and an auto heater when it is to cold. As you can see I have put bubble wrap in the inside. When I get some $ I wil invest in more 3 ply poly panels to help keep it warmer and some aluminet shade cloth to help keep it cooler. It is very difficult to keep it cool when it is already 90 outside. I have tripple layers of shade cloth for the roof, and single for the sides. Plus I have the shade layer inside. I do have misters that come on 3 times a day when it is really hot or when we are away. Anyway, you all know there care is worse in someways than having children. I live in Central California half way between Morro Bay and Atascadero in the coastal mountains. Hoope you all enjoy the photos. Nancy |
