Hi. I live in Naples, FL. My vanda has a leaf problem, happened almost overnight. I posted a photo in the photo section of this website. Can anyone help identify the problem?

I agree with digitalgate. i think it is sunburn also. I notice that the affected leaf is in full sun in the pic while the rest fo the leaves appear to be in more dappled sun. If I am correct in this observation, it owuld support the sunburn diagnosis.

I have a vanda with 01 leaf having the same discoloration due to sun burn (I went for a short holiday & left it outside). It will turn to dark brown if you leave it there. Try not to place it under the hot afternoon sun without shade (50% will do).

Do not water it while the sun is hot. It makes the burn faster.

If i am not mistaken, the second leaf below it, the tip is starting to burn also.

Could be sunburn or if you left it out in the recent cold snaps we have had it might be from frost burn. We have had a couple mornings with that here in Pt. Charlotte.

do you have frost in your area? IF it is constant 70s in the winter (or 60s) you might want
water more than once a day. Rest for 1 day and water 2 or 3 time a day. Your root
seem to drying up also. I suggest you use some type of shade cloth that give 50% sunlight
in the area of 3500 foot candle to 5000 footcandle.
something like the below
Nettings | Wendell Trading Company
don't bother to order from them unless you want to cover 1 hectare of land.

Thanks for all the advice. We did have a cold snap the night before. The vanda has been in the same location for about a year and this is the first time it had this problem so I'm going to rule out the sun. But the cold snap sounds like it might be the culprit especially as the damage appeared within 24 hr.
