Arrow floral dept employee with new Phal

Hello everyone, my name is Loraine, I am brand new to the forum.
I work in the floral dept. of a grocery store. We are constantly getting in orchids, phalaneopsis (sorry if spelling is incorrect) I brought an orchid home and would like to know how to care for it and be able to give advise to customers if asked. I love the plant and hate to see them neglected. I think I brought home an "Angel Snow" plant. I would really like to see a picture of it as it has no blooms yet. It has spikes with "buds" on it. I rescued it from the trash. Many thanks in advance if any advise if forwared. Oh I have it sitting under a lamp with light from a south window. Again "Many Thanks".

Hi Loraine and welcome to the forum!

Take a look at the Phalaneopsis culture sheet on this forum: Orchid Care for Phalenonopis & Paphiopedilum Orchids or download one from the American Orchid Society. These will tell you pretty much what you need to know to grpw Phals. Give them a read and of you hav additional questions let me know.

Your Phal is registered with the name Phalaenopsis Angel Snow (drop the quotation marks). I've not been able to find a picture of it either but I suspect it is one of the large whites.

When you get a moment, please update your member profile to inculde your general geographic location as this will help us give tips and advice.

Happy Growing!

Welcome! Wonderful to see you learning about orchids. One of my pet peeves is all the floral and gardening departments around that have people working in them that know nothing about orchids - and are in the process of sending them into oblivion. Wonderful! Hope more of you sign on in the future..........

Welcome to the forum loraine. You will get answers to any and all questions you may have.

To answer your question ; it is spelt PHALAENOPSIS. I had a hard time at the beginning with all those twisted names/spellings. I still do

Enjoy the forum.

Welcome, Loraine! I hope you like it here! There are a lot of people willing to help. A south window might be a little too strong for a phal.- It depends on where you are located, and how close to the window you have it. Good luck!

Hi & welcome to the forum, Loraine!

It's good to see a floral dept. employee willing to learn how to care for orchids, then be able to help their customers.

Smile Hello Again

Just in case the message did not go through, I wanted to tell everyone "Thank You" for the warm welcome and response to my delima.
I gave the first orchicd I rescued from the trash to my daughter and brought home two more.
So keep those cards and letters coming "Please".
I am going to need all the help I can get.
Thank You all again.
Loraine

Glad you are here. Hopefully we can all help you to keep those lovely phals out of the trash and sell healthy ones to your customers in the floral department. Look forward to hearing more about your plants and challenges in the future.
