Hi! I'm a newbie too!

I've been growing orchids for about two years, no major catastrophes yet.
I basically read everything I could get my hands on. My favorite one is a Pupukea Sunset anD also an Equestris. I have one I can't get to bloom. It's my personal challenge. The plant is beautiful. It's and Oncidium Gower Ramsey.
A friend just gave me a Sharry Baby. That one is so cute.

Orchids for Dummies is how I learned a lot about temperament. So far I've been pretty lucky. All of my orchids have bloomed this past year. I have only about 15, in my kitchen. I have just started to discover orchids and the internet. So, Hello to all you orchid geeks!! From Littlestown Pa USA

In another year, I bet you'll double your collection.

Make sure both your Oncidiums get bright light. Water when slightly dry (use the skewer method; search forum with the keyword "skewer"). Good luck and post pics of your 'chids when you have a chance.

I also have Oncidium Gower Ramsey. Nice flowers when it bloom. Mine just finish blooming but a new growth had started few weeks back.

Once you join this forum, your desire & lust for more orchids will increase & you may end to be a COD - Chronic Orchid Disorder.

Hi! Welcome! I've only been growing orchids for a couple of months, but they have taken over my mind! (and my house!) I really liked the Orchids for Dummys book also. It really spelled out alot of things for me. I've gotten that book, and several others on Amazon. Used, they're pretty cheap, and in good condition. Good luck to you! I too, want a Sharry Baby!
