| Hi everybody thanks for the warm welcome,i have two types of orchids i am growing ,phalaenopsis and a couple of dendrobiums have lost a couple but have learnt from my mistakes,i had two odontoglossums but they died.But i will try again,i am really trying to stick to the easy ones till i lern more .thanks for the welcome .. |

| let's start with some new knowledge for you. odontoglossums are Oncidium Alliance orchids (that means they all grow about the same as other members of the group). They have a lot of variety in the flowers and many look similar to the spider orchids Brassia (also Oncidium Alliance orchids) all Oncidium Alliance orchids like good air circulation and do better outdoors. They like more light than the Phals and less than the Dendrobiums. The air circulation is the most important factor. I have two commercial greenhouses 20 feet apart. One has a strong wind break and kills Oncidium and the other is a wind tunnel and Oncidium do excellent. They also do not like high temperatures but with good air movement that is not a problem.
