| Hello from the State of Maine Hello, my name is Al and I live in the central part of the State of Maine in the U.S. I have been growing houseplants all my life and last spring decided it was time to take on orchids. Needless to say I have become addicted and now spend my days taking care of my small but growing collection and wandering the WWW in search of any and all information I can find about these mesmerizing plants. I'm sure I will find this site useful and will visit often. Anyone interested in replying/e-mailing is welcome to do so. I might even be able to help a bit!!       |

| Thank you for the welcome! Hi Tobi and Vivienne, Thanks for the warm welcome. I only started with orchids last spring after years of growing all types of houseplants from swedish ivy to tropicals. I needed a new challange and have always wanted to try orchids. Over the spring/summer I have put together a collection of varies species, trying to see which ones will do best in my home growing conditions. I'm happy to say, so far, I've lost one seedling Phal.! (My fault, over watered) I'll be posting pictures in the next few days as time permits, meanwhile I just 'entered' the monthly photo contest with P. Baldan's Kaleidoscope "Golden Treasure" AM/AOS It is my favorite Phal. so far but I have about 30 that are to young to bloom and some 15 or so that "should" bloom for the first time this season! (fingers crossed) Here is a pic of P. Brother Little Spottie, taken with my really, really old camera. I just got a new camera a few weeks ago and am still in a learning curve with it. LOL |

| welcome to the forum Al , growing house plant is grear, but somehow growing orchids is even more satisfying, there are many people here willing to help you will enjoy this forum alot. |
