Hello! :-)

Hey guys!
I'm Sara, and I'm a newbie to Orchids! I got myself a Palaenopsis Orchid while visiting my grandparents in Florida. Let me tell you, I can't believe I got back to Maine all in one piece, in the car, with a dog! LOL I've had it for close to a month now, and its doing really well. When I bought it, it had three blossoms. Now it has about 7, with one more bud to bloom (it would have had nine, but my dog kocked off a bud :P). Over in my avatar is a pic of my orchid.
This looks like an awesome place to chat and learn about orchids!

Hi Sara! Amazing that you managed to get your pretty phal home in one piece. I can't think of a better souvenir of a FL vacation! Of course, you realize that you can't stop with just ONE. :-)
Please post your questions when they come up; there are helpful folks here, and besides, it gives us all something to read and think about!

Yes, way better than bringing home a t-shirt or a coffee mug.
LOL, I'm trying to control myself not to go over baord. But we shall see. I do have one question though. It looks as though my phal is growing a second bloom stalk. Is that normal? I would post a pic, but I haven't made it to 15 posts yet.

Having a second spike is highly desirable. Sometimes the spikes branch, and that's even better.

Hey, if you get two spikes on your phal, you're a blessed woman. Sounds like it's liking Maine!

Wow, I didn'r relize how lucky I am! When I hit 15 posts, I'll post a pic of my phal in all its glory.
One more question. Since it has a second bloom stalk, does it mean that it will have two every year, or does it vary?
