Question Keiki

I am a new member. I am babysitting a neighbors Phal. It has had a Kiki for at least 2 yrs. and the mother plant liiks like it is dying...so I decided to pot the Kiki. I left about 1" of the stem attached and put it a 4"pot with orchid bark. Have I killed it?

I have two Phals. One I,ve had for 2 yrs. (in an 6" pot) and has not bloomed since the original blossems. The other one is new and is in a 4" pot. I have no idea what I am doing!!
Any help?
Thanks
Tess

Thanks Mayres,
The Kiki site gave me some good info. I think I need a plastic pot inside of the clay one.

In the fall, most phals like a 15 degree temperature drop at night to initiate spikes. Something like a 70 or 75 degree day and a 60 or 55 degree night would be ideal. If you don't keep the plant outside, you can open a window in the same room as the plant, but no so that it's in a draft.
