Inexpensive idea for humidity problems

Hi everybody, I just wanted to tell you about how using an inexpensive aquarium, Pet'smart-$27.99 helped me create a great environment for all my paph's. I set up the aquarium on a $19.99 PVC-plastic type set of shelves from Lowe's,the type usually sold for garage storage. Snaps together, quick and easy. I drilled a hole in the the top shelf supports on either side and put a curtain rod and curtain across the front, I now have an inexpensive aquarium stand I can also store all my orchid supplies on. I lined the bottom of the aquarium w/rock, but you could also use those glass discs they sell at hobby stores, added water for a humidity tray. Purchased a $6.88 high velocity 4" metal fan from Walmart that hung over the top edge perfectly and viola, air circulation, humidity needs covered.I mist them daily, don't even have to turn off the fan, it blows the water away from itself. My paphiopedilums love it. I have it set up in an southwest window at window height. You just need to pick out the right window for the correct amount of light exposure for the orchids of your choice. I think it would work great in any window, especially the bay type windows. I have 9-4", and 2-2" in it at the moment, some on upturned pots so leaves are not touching. My 2" babies are on set of steps I had out of a tabletop fountain, so even their light is not compromised by the big guys. I want to thank everybody for the great ideas and help I've gotten from this site with this idea. Thank You.

Hi Lucinda! Thanks for taking the time to share your neat solution with us. It sounds like a good way for people like me to fight the low humidity problem--and I'll bet it looks nice, too. Any pictures?

So many things to try; where do you start?!
