| Hi everyone Hi! I'm new to the forum and live in Honolulu, Hawaii. I have a small collection of orchids that I got from shows and nurseries. I hope to learn a lot and look forward to meeting all of you.      |

| Hi and welcome Lil'Flower. Please tell us about yourself. My wife and I are planning to going there for our 10th year Aniversary in 2009. Heard there is alot of beautiful orchids to see around the islands. |

| Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Tobi, I hope that you and your wife have a great time in Hawaii. Most of the larger hotels are decorated with orchids. I wish that I had all the orchids imaginable, maybe one day soon  As for the orchids I grow I have cattleya, dendrobium, odontoglossum, vanilla, and a lot of others that I don't know what they are. As for me.... I am a student at a community college. I love animals and have lots of them. I currently have 2 dogs (a border collie and a rottie), 2 rabbits (a lionhead and a holland lop), a chicken, a turtle, 3 jacksons, a b&g macaw, and fresh and saltwater fishes. |

| Hi Flower, welcome to the forum. Is your vanilla ( I am assuming that it is Vanilla planifolia or Vanilla tahitensis ) growing outside or in the house? If it is outside is it rooted in the ground or a pot and is it supported by a tree or trellis or maybe a post? I am also interested in the age of the plant and if it has born flowers. I hope this is not to much trouble for you to answer. Bill |

| Welcome lil_flower. My mother-in-law lives in Honolulu and my partner and I go there at least once a year. It's one of my favorite places in all the world.

| Hi and welcome, lil flower! You're lucky to live in a place where orchids will thrive in that type of environment. Please share some pics.  I used to live in Honolulu and miss it. Maybe when I retire.

| A few have bloomed and some will be blooming soon. I'm not sure what kind of vanilla it is it just says vanilla orchid. I have had the plant for several months and it is outdoors. It is in a pot and growing out of control. It is hanging under a lychee tree and I have not seen it flower yet. I will try and get some pictures as soon as I find my camera. |
