 Hello from Long Island, NY  Hello to all orchid lovers !  I bought my first orchid this March and have collected about 19 so far! Yes, I have been bitten by the orchid bug and have the fever!  My list includes- circa 3/17/07 Phals: Tai Pei Gold x Cassandra #2, Baldan's Kaleidescope Hybrid 'Melon', NOID white phal NOID yellow phal, Cattleyas: PPO-37 Apple Blossom, HC350 BLC Chai Lin 'New City', TC059 BLC. SangYing Ruby T-3743 LC. Irene Song 'Montclair' HCC/AOS , NOID Miltonia, circa 4/8/2007 Epidendruim Mabel Kanda (Epi. Floribundum x Epi. Cordigirum 'Paradise' Additions from GNYOS 4/22/07 Blc (Portage Glacier x Persepolis) 'Carmela' Blc Success Dream 'Miracles' Blc Lawless Freischultz 'Carmela' Blc Lawless Zauberflote 'Rainbow' C. Summer Spot 'Carmela' (5 above in 4" pots ) Bc (Little Stars x Maikai) 'Hawaii' in spike 2 blooms (light perfume powder scent at night) Vanilla Planifola (non variagated leaf) 1/4" at thickest - 20" tall - no blooms (2) Schomburgkia Thomasoniana 04/25/07-eBay Cattleya Maxima (fragrant/lavender) and I am waiting for a Dendrobium Laevifolium any day now! ( very excited! it's my first mini!) I am looking forward in meeting a lot of great folks  sharing information and experiences and just having a good time here with none of this ..  I am a bit of a silly goofball  just so you know  but I love orchids just the same!  If anyone is interested .. | Welcome Dorothy! Quite a collection already. I am a newbie too with a rapidly expanding collection... mostly phals and paphs. The orchid bug definitely bit me. | Dorothy: I have a Phal. (Taipi Gold x Cassandra 1). (very similar ito yours) In fact, I have twins of this one. They're quite lovely with small flowers. I hope yours will do as well as mine have done. |

| Dorothy, so glad you found this site. Just so you know, we love goofballs. Anything goes here. A heads-up though.....don't even mention snails in the same sentence with orchids unless you're talking about how many you threw into the barbeque pit. (A group hug for Orchid-Lord who learned the hard way.)Where on Long Island are you growing your pretty orchids? | Hi Dorothy, I'm from just outside Rochester. Orchid favs are cats & oncidiums, but I must admit I love them all. Have about 25 now and trying to find room for more |

Tai Pei Gold X Cassandra #2  Omg .. that little phal is such a strong little plant .. It's a double spiker and still going strong producing buds I was told that yellows .. even roses .. are of the hardiest of plants must be something in the genes!  Here is my baby!  I just  it!I'd love to see what yours looks like!

| Sandra - The only thing I like about  (with shells) is eating them but when I did ..they didn't like me ...  - boy was I sick!I am in Nassau County .. North New Hyde Park area .. I have been to Cali and Florida .. but never lived in either place My sis lived in Sand Diego and Jax, Fla with her Navy husband and kids for quite a few years, now they are in Va. and I have a brother in NC. My chids are still inhouse .. I have yet to get some outdoor shelving but it's in my plans .. and in the future .. a greenhouse would be ideal! Thanks for the warm welcome! Tobi - I love catts but am being pulled toward the minis for lack of space and their cuteness .. I love fragrant chids ... especially my bc Little Stars x Maikai 'Hawaii' and my Apple Blossom! I can waft them for hours! I have yet to venture into the oncids .. but I have Sharry Baby 'Red Fantasy' on my wish list! .. You say you need room for more .. sounds like a greenhouse might be a consideration for you too! ..

| Thanks so much! Thank you Fred and Thank you KMarch so much I got the big hello from the top mods  now I feel special! Don't worry about me asking questions .. I am not shy when it comes to that! I love how everyone is from so many different places on Earth! I love Austrailia .. I travel back in the early 90s and would recommend any and everyone to visit .. for being half way around the world, I felt like I was right at home!  I have yet to travel to Tasmania .. another one of my places to visit! Fred? Are you known as the Tasmania Devil  of the Board?

| Welcome to orchid geeks Dorothy!!!! I just purchased a small Sharry Baby "Red Fantasy" at a show in April, it has yet to bloom for me, but I can't wait till it does, mmmmmmm chocolate and vanilla scent yum yum!!!! I wish I was in the States I would definately take those orchids off your hands to help you make your dreams come true!!!! Welcome once again from Canada, Cindy |

 Transmutation and Red Fantasy Anton? That avatar scares me a bit  I think you must have been a bit influenced with the movie ' The Fly " (Original version).(  'help me' )I love my orchids but I wouldn't transmutate with them!  That goes way beyond passion! Hi Cindy I just traded my Portage Glacier x Persepolis for a S.B. 'red fantasy' so my dream has come true! Weeeeeeeeeeeee! I will be sharing that experience of chocolate and vanilla along with you!
