Hi from Dunedin, FL

Hi everyone! My name is Gina and my fiance's name is Mike. We have been growing orchids for a little over a year now. We have approximately seven Vandas, eight Phalaenopsis, one Grammatophyllum, two Dendrobiums, and two Oncidiums. I never knew that orchids could be such an addiction. Mike and I have been going to a couple orchid shows these past weeks, and we keep telling ourselves no more, but we always come home with several. I look forward to gaining knowledge from this site. I will try to post pictures later.

gte1011 - Good to hear from a fellow Tampon. The wealth of information here isn't to be believed. Hmmm, actually, it is. Whatever. Thanks for your input on the squirrel problem. Look forward to chatting with you.

Welcome, EJag, I can't believe what I have learned since joining this forum. Thank you for the questions about worm tea. I am hoping to hear from Jerry Meola about the purchase of the tea.

(Sigh). A COUPLE with an interest in orchids, a match made in heaven, the rest of us are struggling, having to use subversive tactics to get our little Precious s, and relying on this forum as a group therapy session of how hard done by we are with our partners, husbands/wives/girlfriends and lovers.
(hopefully the girfriends/boyfriends don't meet the wife)

Keep him, he's a rare find. My wife is slowly coming around and is getting an interest in Ozzie miniature natives.

Welcome.

Hello Gina, and Welcome!

Lots of sensible, fun, and helpful growers here. I'm glad to see you're growing Grammatophyllum. They're not commonly grown tomy knowledge, but should be as they're intriguing plants. Enjoy your plants and let us know if you have questions. People here love pics so if you get a chance perhaps you could post a few, especially of your more unusual ones.

Happy Growing!

Here are some pictures of our Phalaenopsis Baldan's Kaleidoscope that has 64 flowers between the two spikes. We bought this orchid last year, and we love it.

Yikes! It's spectacular! Get it to a show or judging to be considered for an award of cultural merit!

I would love to get an award for this orchid, but honestly I have no clue about showing or having my orchids judged.

Getting your orchids judged is simple. Either 1) take it to an orchid show in your area - most orchid shows also feature AOS judging, or 2) take it to your nearest judging center's monthly judging. To find the centre nearest you, go to the AOS website where the locations, addresses, and contact info for all judging centers is located. Choose the one nearest you and give them a call or send an email.

Simple as that.
