Smile Just wanted to introduce myself...

Hello, my name is Luanne and I wanted to introduce myself.

I joined the forum today and, after reading many threads, can't tell you how impressed I am by the helpful and thoughtful knowledge exchange.
What an open, friendly, and intelligent group!

I am a newbie and am very interested in learning as much as I can about my small collection of Phals.

Thanks for existing. I hope at some point soon I will be able to offer, not just consume, advice.

Welcome to the family Luanne.

The fun part starts once you get a few postings under your belt and then you can attach images of your "loved ones" not the human kind.

If you have problems, images are the best way for us to put our 2 petals worth in, that is how I learnt here.

Hi Luanne,
You are right about this site, people are so kind and willing to help when you need advice. I too am new and have a small selection of phals. It is difficult to join in with a discussion when you know diddly squat! I have learned a great deal in a short amount of time but have so much further to travel!!
Enjoy!
Fiona

Thank you everyone for being so welcoming. Great idea about attaching pictures as needed. Once again, I'm learning something new every time I read your replies.

Also, I'll add my location -- Chicago -- to the profile. thanks for feedback.

Ann: Welcome to the forum. I too live in the Chicago area. Phals. are my favorite (so far). I found Cynthia's skewer watering method to be one of the best tips I learned. Once I stopped overwatering, everything changed. Most of my Phals. are still in bloom or on their second bloom. I grow mine in a protected west window and monitor the sun carefully (mine don't seem to like much sun - a little in late afternoon, but I'll have to watch as the weather warms up. There's a ton of great information here on the forum and lots of friendly folks willing to help. Good luck with your orchids.
