New Member in Colorado Springs

Hi there. Just joined OrchidGeeks today and definitely have the orchid fever. Anyone from the Colorado Springs area?

I moved in to a townhouse that has a wonderful atrium/sunroom. It seems the phals I brought from my old house just love this room and 2 have come to bloom in just 4 months. My orchid collection has now grown to 13 in a very short period of time. I'm hooked!

Welcome Vivienne!
You better be careful. 13 can quickly become 100 if you are not careful.....
I have a daughter that just moved from Fort Collins to Westminster. She went to the orchid show in Denver last fall and will be going to the next one on March 10-11. If you have not been - highly recommended!

Hi Sharyn and mayres - thank you for the welcome.

mayres - do you have more information on the Orchid Show in Denver? I'd love to attend it!

The Denver show is at the Denver Botanical Gardens - which are worth visiting in their own right - even without an orchid show! Check out the times and other info at this link - http://www.denverorchidsociety.org/orchid_shows.html
Enjoy!

Hi pikespeak62

Do you have any preferred places to get orchids in town? How is the orchid society here?

Hi & welcome to the forum, Vivienne.

We'll be visiting my in-laws in Colorado Springs in May. Since pikespeak62 mentioned Island Orchids, I just might stop by during my visit.

pikespeak62 -- What types of orchids does Island Orchids offer?

Hi arleneg

I've been to Island Orchids. They are wonderful and seemed to carry a fairly good selection. Not tons of orchids, but more carefully selected. It's worth a visit when you're here.

Island Orchids carries blooming plants only.(except for the $5.00 out of bloom table)
Depending on season...Phals, Dendrobiums, Paphs, Catts, Oncidium intergenerics. Most are Hawaiian.
Sometimes unusual treasures appear.
I know so much because I used to work there.
