Do you have a large or small collection?

I am just getting back into orchids, my father bred them until he died 23 years ago, and I kept 3 of his plants, but have only just started building up my collection to 14 Cyms, one Phal, soon to be 2 with a violacea, a Den kingianum, a Zygopetilum (Artyur Elle X), and an Epidendrum.

Hope to get some Paphs this year at the Show.

My wife has 3 natives and again hopes to get some more this year as well.

I have one of each of my favourite colours in Cyms, so not purchasing any more(famous last words).. Still waiting for 3 of them to flower, have missed the past 3 seasons. :/

Hello and welcome. I'm a "newbie" and from the Midwest region of USA. I'm curious right now about your weather in Australia. We've been having some serious cold weather lately - well below zero at night and not much more than 15F during the day. I know your growing seasons are different, but is this time of year your winter and if so, what's the temperature?

Anton: How fortunate that you had your dad growing orchids for all those years. I'm sure your learned much from him. My Mom only taught me how to cook!

Anyway, G'day to all you Aussies.

We are in summer here at present with temperatures ranging from the low 80s up to one day of 105℉. Sometimes we can have up to 2 weeks of temperatures in the high 80s to high 90s with over night ntemperatures staying around the high 70s.

Our temperature is very Mediteranean and changable. Here in Adelaide November to January are also very windy months.

Dad was a keen gardener, PERIOD. He taught me a lot.

Mum is happy I am following in his footsteps.
