Persephone is on a distinguished road
Greetings from the Garden State

I purchased my first orchid at the NY Botanical Gardens Orchid exhibit. It's a paph and I named it Persephone (my real name is Teena) So far I have managed to keep my orchid alive for almost a whole year. I'm looking forward for another bloom some time in this millenium but have a million questions. I've been reading up on the net and visiting other orchid forums. At some times I fantacize about purchasing a greenhouse or building a conservatory off my livingroom....and I have only one orchid! I suppose when one gets bitten, it's pretty deep and effective. I plan to buy another orchid soon, but am undecided as to which type. I really really do like paphs.

This seems like a friendly, informative and helpful forum. And so ends the lurk. I should have an avatar within the next few days.

Welcome Teena!
Paphs are really cool orchids and you probably know that many people are so smitten with them that it is all they grow. There are a number of different types of foliage on these too which is beautiful in its own right. If your lighting conditions are good for paphs you might also consider phals if you like them - lighting conditions for both are similar. I only have 8-9 paphs and it seems there is always at least 1-2 blooming late fall through spring. What is the cross (written on the tag hopefully) of yours? mike
