I just received my first orchid (phal) for Xmas. Always wanted one they are so beautiful.
I misted the entire plant flowers and all and then waited a week to water with warm water as suggested, had it in an north facing window, but moved to east and now flowers are starting to shrivel and turn brown, other buds seem ok. Should I let flowers fall off natural? It came in a plastic pot with drainage at bottom but inside wood basket. I take it out of basket during the day.

What type of light, should I fertilize now(winter) set on pebble tray? Any info would be great as I don't plant to meet an early demise.

I wouldn't mist the flowers if I were you, especially if they're white as it will cause spotting. As for the flowers dropping off, yes let them fall naturally. You don't want to damage the spike, as it may flower again. BTW don't worry about the flowers dropping off, it may just be their time! An east facing window should be fine for a phal. I fertilize my phals weekly, weakly all year long. You should definitely place it on a humidity tray. Matt
