Greetings from Melbourne, Australia Hi all,
Only yesterday, when I found this site by accident, I was so impressed that I was compelled to register. I have been propagating Oz native plants for many years, especially those claimed to be difficult or near impossible. My links with orchids began about 12 years ago, with a few cymbidiums that appeared not interested in flowering again. When moving house, from the hills of Greensborough 8 years ago to Carrum by the sea, things changed. I found a small tuber discarded by the previous house owner, guessing this to be an orchid I did a little research to see if I could get this to grow. What I learned developed into an interest in orchids beyond being an admirer. I currently have over 150 orchids, mainly cymbidiums, dendrobiums and oncidiums. About 50 of these are of a size that flowers well in season. Half of the others will flower next year, and the rest the year after. I have freshly harvested seed from dendrobium kingianum, looking for a good home.
Cheers, Les |
